Tonight the Minnesota Twins open the Metrodome to the 2006 home opener. And I couldn’t be more excited.
Forget all the steroids talk. Forget all the talk about “you know who”. Forget that the Minnesota Twins have started the season 1-5. Forget that the Twins are showing the same old offense we cringed at last season.
Forget all that because tonight baseball finally returns to the great state of Minnesota and all Twins fans better be there to support them and let the players and coaches know we care. Let them know we care because they are our team, better or for worse, rich or for poor (mostly poor for the low budget Twins), in sickness and in health, as long as we both shall live. Because that is what it means to be a true Twins fan. To be there through all the ups and downs and not just the pennant chasing seasons.
Yes I know the Twins may be struggling at the moment, but we are only 6 games into a 162 game schedule. There’s no time to worry just yet. So in the mean time, be excited with me because they are our team and tonight is the home opener.
Even though we have to watch it indoors sitting in small, rock hard blue seats.
We really need a new stadium. But I still love my Twins.
