Swept Off Their Feet

Coming out of spring training the Twins had me feeling good about their offense. They had me thinking that just maybe things would be different and great and that the additions of White, Batista, and Castilla along with the resurgence of Justin Morneau, that this offense would be something special.

I guess I was just drinking their “Kool-Aid”.

If this weekend’s series with the Indians was any indication of what this revamped offense can do, then we Minnesotan’s are in for a long summer. Take yesterday’s performance for instance where the Twins mustered only 6 base runners all game. That’s right I said base runners, not hits. They only had 3 of those.

The Twins made pitcher Jake Westbrook look like the great pitcher Cy Young with those numbers.

But it wasn’t just Jake Westbrook that made the Twins look like a Double A team. The Twins hit a pathetic .177 over the 3 game series in Cleveland. So all weekend long the Cleveland pitchers kept the Twins off the base paths. And in the unlikely event that they did reach base they were left stranded like Jack, Sawyer, Locke, and the rest of the cast of “Lost”.

Unfortunately the Twins lineup, just like the show “Lost”, hasn’t given us any answers. Just a whole lot more questions.
